First Year Fellows

Alex Leone headshot

Alexandra Leone-Gregory is a 2025 graduate of Temple University Beasley School of Law where, as a Rubin-Presser Social Justice Fellow, she dedicated her time to pro bono projects such as the School Discipline Advocacy Service, Housing Justice Initiative, Street Lawyering Project, and Social Justice Lawyering Clinic, which allowed her to gain practical experience in serving Philadelphia clients. Additionally, she gained non profit and government experience by interning at the Education Law Center; the Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Educational Opportunities Section; and for two magistrate judges in the EDPA.

Alexandra is sponsored by the Legal Clinic for the Disabled. Her project focuses on expanding the medical legal partnership model at St Christopher and Nemours children's hospitals to include special education legal assistance. Primarily the goal is to assist children eligible for special education and their families in requesting services through the identification and evaluation processes under the federal IDEA.  
 

Solis Canto headshot

Andrea Solís Canto is a 2025 graduate of Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law, where she was a Public Interest Scholar, student attorney in the CARES Clinic, co-president of the Immigration Law Society, and a member of the Moot Court Board. She also received the Dorothy Day Pro Bono Service Award. Andrea completed internships with the ACLU of Pennsylvania, Centro de los Derechos del Migrante, the American Immigration Council, Nationalities Service Center, and the Executive Office for Immigration Review. Prior to law school, she worked as an immigration and public benefits paralegal at Legal Aid.

Andrea is sponsored by Nationalities Service Center. Her project is to provide pro bono immigration legal representation to detained and non-detained low-income noncitizens in Pennsylvania who are at imminent risk of deportation based on a prior removal order.

Hillary Shah graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School in 2025, where she was a Toll Public Interest Scholar, President of Democracy Law Project, and received awards for excellence in pro bono work. She interned for the Brennan Center for Democracy, the Public Interest Law Center, Community Legal Services, the U.S. Department of Labor, and the Defenders Association of Philadelphia. Prior to law school, she worked as a community organizer in Texas.

Hillary is sponsored by Community Legal Services to vindicate and expand the rights of low-wage workers who are pregnant or parenting young children.

Victoria Peña-Parr is a 2025 graduate of Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law, where she was a Public Interest Scholar and member of the Murphy Family Endowed Moot Court Board. Victoria also served on the boards of If/When/How and the Latin American Law School Association. Victoria interned with the ACLU of Pennsylvania, the Women's Law Project, LatinoJustice PRLDEF, the Villanova Farmworker Clinic, and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Re-Entry Court. 

Victoria is sponsored by the ACLU of Pennsylvania. Her project focuses on expanding legal protections for LBGTQ+ students facing discrimination in public schools. 

Second Year Fellows

Lisa Fanning headshot

Lisa Fanning is a 2024 graduate of Harvard Law School, where she studied civil rights lawyering and health law. She interned with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office Health Care Division, Lichten & Liss-Riordan, P.C., and the Philadelphia Public Interest Law Center.

Lisa is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Institutional Law Project, where she works on improving access to necessary healthcare and safety measures for LGBTQIA+ incarcerated people with a focus on gender affirming care.

Juan P Madrigal

Juan P. Madrigal is a 2024 graduate of University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, where he was a Toll Public Interest Scholar, Community Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Law and Public Affairs, and recipient of the Exceptional Pro Bono Service Award. He interned for the U.S. Department of Labor, U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and Community Legal Services as a Peggy Browning Fellow. Prior to law school, he directed an employment advocacy program for justice-impacted and disabled workers at Goodwill Industries.

Juan is sponsored by Community Legal Services to expand access to employment law services and criminal record-clearing for workers in Kensington. 

Meggie McCarthy-White

Meggie McCarthy-White is a 2024 graduate of Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law, where she was a certified legal intern in Villanova’s Health Law Clinic and president of the Villanova Health Law Society. She also received awards for excellence in legal writing, family law, and pro bono service. Meggie completed internships with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Office of General Counsel and the EEOC Hearings Unit, and she worked in health policy prior to law school.

Solveig Olson Strom

Solveig Olson-Strom is a 2024 graduate of Yale Law School, where she was a member of the Worker and Immigrant Rights Advocacy Clinic. She interned at Just Futures Law and the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights.

Solveig is sponsored by Justice at Work. Her work focuses on representing noncitizen workers experiencing workplace abuse and exploitation in the counties surrounding Philadelphia.
